For shop & commercial agents
Which shops just got a restaurant licence — and which just lost one?
The government overwrites its licence lists every day and keeps no history. We have saved them daily since 31 August 2026 — so we can tell you what appeared and what disappeared, address by address. For the tenant you're showing around, it's also the fastest answer to “can this shop be licensed?”
What you're asked — and where the answer is
“Has this shop been a restaurant?”
Licences on record at the address, with the shop names — the strongest evidence premises can be licensed.
Show on the map“Any planning issues?”
Applications on and around the site, including Eating Place and Shop and Services, with decisions.
Show on the map“Who walks past?”
Census income and population, MTR exits and pedestrian streets — labelled as proxies, because no footfall counts exist.

“New restaurant licences in Sheung Wan since Monday”, “addresses that lost a liquor licence in Wan Chai” — from our daily history.
A sample Pro answer — computed from our daily history
33 addresses — a selection:
| Shop | Address |
|---|---|
| Butter Babe | G/F, 16 Gough Street, Central |
| Zagin Soba | G/F, 7 Gough Street, Central |
| Two-and-a-half Street | B/F & G/F, 23 Staunton Street, Central |
| Psyche Mou | G/F, 21 Staunton Street, Central |
| Knead | G/F, On Yip House, 28 Jervois Street, Sheung Wan |
| Tandoori High Street | G/F, 65 High Street, Western |
- “Joined the list” means the address had no restaurant licence on our 31 August snapshot and has one on 24 September. Address spelling changes can occasionally look like a new address.
- An address leaving the list is not proof of closure — most departures are licences that expired and may still be renewed. Two or three months of history tell them apart.

What the data won't tell you
Vacancy
No government list of empty shops exists. A lost licence is a hint, not a vacancy.
Asking rents
RVD publishes territory-wide retail averages; asking rents come from the market.
DMC restrictions
Deeds of mutual covenant are Land Registry documents, ordered one by one.
