Terms and Conditions

1. Who you are contracting with

KongInsight is operated by Nguyen Manh Cuong, a sole trader trading as KongInsight (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at manhcuongincusar@gmail.com.

Orders are fulfilled by Paddle.com Market Ltd, which acts as our authorised reseller and merchant of record. Paddle is the seller of record for your purchase, handles payment and any applicable taxes, and appears on your card statement and invoice. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle's buyer terms.

2. What this service is

KongInsight is a web application. It displays Hong Kong buildings, land lots, land-use zoning and statutory height limits on a map, renders government 3D building models, and computes sunlight and shadow for a date and time you choose. All output is generated automatically by software from public Hong Kong government open data.

3. Accounts and access

• The free tier requires no account and includes a limited number of detailed building lookups per day.
• Paid access is tied to the email address used at checkout. You sign in with a one-time link sent to that address, so keep access to the inbox.
• Paid access is for one person. Do not share your access link or resell your access.

4. Plans, billing and cancellation

• Current plans and prices are listed on the Pricing page, in HKD and USD.
• The 14-Day Pass is a one-time payment. Access ends after 14 days. It does not renew and you will not be charged again.
• Plus is billed once a year and renews automatically until you cancel. We email a reminder 3 days before each renewal.
• You can cancel Plus at any time through the customer portal linked from your purchase receipt, or by emailing us. Cancelling stops future renewals; your access continues to the end of the period already paid for.
• If we change prices, the new price applies from your next renewal, and we tell you before it takes effect.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• scrape, bulk-download or systematically extract the map tiles, 3D models or computed results, or use automated tools against the service;
• resell, sublicense or redistribute the service or its output as a competing data product;
• circumvent usage limits, share paid access with others, or attempt to access parts of the system you were not granted;
• use the service unlawfully, including in ways that breach the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.

We may suspend access that is damaging the service or breaching these terms. Where the breach is not deliberate, we will contact you first.

7. Data sources and accuracy

Source data comes from the Hong Kong Government — the Lands Department, CSDI and data.gov.hk — and remains © The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It is republished under the terms those departments set for their open data.

Government datasets contain errors, gaps and outdated records, and our calculations are estimates derived from them. Recorded storey counts, for example, are known to disagree with the physical building in some cases. The service is provided “as is”: we do not warrant that any figure is accurate, complete or current.

8. Intellectual property

The application, its interface, code and the analysis it generates belong to us. Your paid plan grants a personal, non-transferable right to use the service while your access is active. Underlying government data remains the property of its publishers.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability; it may be unavailable for maintenance, upstream data outages or reasons outside our control. We may add, change or remove features. If we discontinue a paid plan you have already paid for, we will refund the unused portion.

10. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may terminate access for a material breach of these terms; if we do so without cause, we refund the unused portion of your current period.

11. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profit or any loss arising from a property decision made using the service. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version is always on this page with its update date. If a change materially affects paying customers, we email them before it takes effect.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, where the seller is resident. This does not remove consumer rights you have under the law of your own country of residence.
