Choosing a unit
Which unit actually gets the sun?
In the same block, one flat gets the whole afternoon and the one two floors down is in shadow by two. The Housing Authority prices it in: across 93 subsidised-sale blocks, the dearest flat in a block cost a median 30% more per square metre than the cheapest. The map measures a single window against the real 3D city — when the sun arrives, when it goes behind the wall, and which building takes the rest.
What you can check before you choose
Direct sun, window by window
Hours of direct sun for any floor and facing, on any date of the year.
Show on the mapWhat blocks it
The building that takes your afternoon — its name, how much taller than your window, how far across the street.
Show on the mapThree views of one window
Around the block, straight at the wall, or out of the window itself — the floor and facing stay where you put them.
Show on the mapWest sun in summer
From 3 to 6 pm the low sun hits west walls hardest. See when it starts, when it stops and what cuts it off.

A real measurement: Hollywood Plaza, Mong Kok
Level 10, west wall, measured on the map for 14 September. The frames below are the app itself — drag the time.
Measured on the map · 14 Sept
Hollywood Plaza, Mong Kok · Level 10 · west wall
1h 59m
of direct sun, out of 6h 19m this wall could get
Sunlit 12:06–14:05. After that, Sun Hing Building — 54 m above the window, 31 m across the street — takes the afternoon.
- The answer is a time window, not a label. “West-facing” says nothing until you know what stands across the street.
- Sunlight is measured against the Lands Department's photo-real 3D models. A building without a model can't be measured yet.

What the map won't tell you
Sea and hill views
We measure sunlight, not the quality of a view. A sea-view claim still needs a visit.
Towers not built yet
New buildings appear once they are in the Lands Department's 3D model. Planned ones show as planning applications.
Light inside the room
We measure sun on the outside of the window, not how deep it reaches into the flat.
Floor plans
Layouts come from the developer's sales brochure or the Housing Authority.
